Background
Welcome to the International Holiday Camp Great Britain (IHC GB) website.
The IHC brings together over 450 disabled guests and helpers from over 20 different countries across Europe and further afield. It provides them with the opportunity to share a holiday and to experience the culture, spirituality and hospitality of a different nation, with like-minded people.
2010 is the first year in its 26 year history that the IHC will have been hosted by Great Britain and we want to organise an unforgettable week for all the guests and helpers.
The IHC is for people aged between 18 and 35 with a range of backgrounds and disabilities. As hosts, the Great Britain organising team will provide a programme of activities that would normally not be accessible to the participants. Guests and helpers will spend a whole week living together and helping one another. Deep relationships are always forged at the IHCs which produces a powerful and unique camp spirit.
This website will explain to our future guests, helpers, friends, and sponsors what the IHC in 2010 will involve. We will be sending out newsletters during the year with updates on our progress, so make sure you sign up to these, and also go to our community page for other ways to stay in touch with us and each other throughout the year.
Finally, the camp would not be complete without a theme and we have chosen the title of a classic Beatles track: All You Need Is Love. This Beatles song is not just typically British but also embraces many other foreign musical influences and represents our message that love is everything and is completely free from poverty and exclusion. The simple phrase cannot be misinterpreted and will provide us with a solid foundation on which to make the IHC GB 2010 a huge success for everyone involved.
We hope you enjoy the website and look forward to seeing you at Bluestone!
